About Dae
I’ve been a singer and musician since I was a small child, first playing piano, then saxophone, then teaching myself guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele. Both of my parents were musical, my dad also self taught on guitar and piano and my mom a singer. I can remember being small and watching them perform special music at church or leading groups of songs around campfires.
Music has always been a place of safety and comfort for me, a place to play and be creative, a way to feel focused and accomplished, and as I got older even a way to rebel. I played bass guitar in the praise band at church until the pastor told me I could only keep playing if I dyed my pink hair back to brown. Soooo that’s when I stopped playing in praise band.
In 2018 I thought I had arrived. My career as a professional Body Piercer had allowed me to move from rural Athens, GA to Seattle, WA and I had become an expert working at a high-end jewelry and high-volume body piercing studio. It had all the bells and whistles and glamour that I could have hoped for in the industry, but like most of the profit driven industries of the world there was an underbelly to it as well. It came to be that I was drowning in stress, was grinding my teeth all night, and I even began to develop ocular migraines making it difficult to work.
I tried everything I could think of- medications, new glasses, supplements, diet changes, chiropractic, massage, more water, less screen time, I even decided to get and stay completely sober- but eventually I sought additional help through alternative healing and counseled with an incredible healer, Maiah Marino. I learned about energy transference and realized that I was picking up the energy of the clientele I was working with all day.
Maiah taught me how to protect myself and shield my energy and then clear my energetic field at the end of the day. She also taught me how to get in touch with the elements and commune with the energy of a crystal or open up my sensitivity to a space. Through regular meditation, energy clearing practices, moving my body, learning about how to work with crystals, and listening to calming music, my migraines lessened drastically.
One morning during meditation I heard the sustained tones of a quartz crystal bowl on the track I was listening to and was absolutely mesmerized! I knew that I had to get my hands on this instrument and play it for myself.
I was already accustomed to using sound and music as a tool to focus for my own meditation practice, but after learning how to play the bowls I began to feel called to holding sonic space for the healing and restoration of others too.
I underwent a mentorship with Symphony Percussionist Becca Laurito, became a Certified Sound Healer, Tuning Fork Practitioner, Reiki Practitioner, and Crystal Practitioner, and I’m a member of the International Sound Therapy Association. I have found great comfort and profound healing with this modality and have drastically reduced my migraines, anxiety, body pain, and stress.
It’s now my mission to help you also find long lasting and life changing healing through sound and energy work practices from the beautiful space I’ve made in my Vancouver, WA studio.
